Do DWP DM access all bens info for their decision?

HI All B&W ,

I know this question has been asked many times and i have asked too.

I general I believe the systems are so siloed and fragmented operationally that this is not routinely possible. Various agents have also reiterated note to assume info sharing between depts.

However, in a recent UC backdating MRN>Appeal process i was surprised to find that the DM maker stated :

'I have considered all additional evidence provided ......to both Universal credit and PIP departments'

It does happen. Perhaps there's a threshold to trigger the requirement for info sharing , before decision is made.

Anyone have any further understanding ?

Hi Sum

We don't have knowledge of the inner workings of the DWP, Clearly, someone in one department of the DWP is able to ring up someone in another department, so sometimes information will be shared.

In my personal experience they do not share information.
I naively thought they did, which resulted in me getting underpaid for over 5 years.
Things may be changing, but I would not count on anything.

Hi Angela

All Benefits payments are now displayed on the DWP platform CIS Searchlight. They also share this with the Council Tax and Social Landlords have the Landlord Portal.

the fact that ' All Benefits payments are now displayed on the DWP platform CIS Searchlight' makes sense to me. I often get asked which other benefit claimant is receiving as a security question.

My query was more to do with medical evidence and application forms.

The UC decision maker used the pip form and supporting evidence to inform his backdating decision. I didn't think that was an option for a UC decision because differing criteria for each benefit.

Hi Sum

You are correct. There are different regulations for PIP and UC backdating.
