Hearing loss was created by Blueallblue
I was awarded another 2 years for my pip a few days ago.
Sadly I wasn't awarded the mobility or enhanced part though.

The day after my award letter arrived I received a letter to attend the audiology department at my local hospital.
Yesterday I attended and was told I require 2 hearing aids but I'm on a 52 week waiting list for them.
Will this make any difference to my pip claim and should I call them and let them know?

Hi Blueallblue

You can score two points for needing hearing aids (Question 7). They won't just change your award. You will need to submit a change-of-circumstances request, which will trigger a review. You need to have suffered from hearing loss for at least three months before you inform them (which I assume you have). I'm sorry the waiting list in your area is so long. If the 2 possible points will push you into an enhanced award, you will probably want to inform them; if they won't, then you might want to wait until your next review.

Thanks.
I was thinking more along the lines of me not being comfortable going out now as my lack of hearing is making it difficult to do so. I have also noticed my balance is not great and the hospital said this could be because of my hearing issues.

Hi Blueallblue

They won't take any notice of something unless it has been happening for 3 months before and will continue for 9 months after you have informed the DWP. So if you are saying that you have only just started struggling with going out - they will currently ignore it.
