Turnaround time PIP review assessments

My brother recently tried to call PIP to provide more info on his health. It turns out this review has been pending for 1 year ! Is that normal time frame to expect ?

Also he has been told they need specialist input to assess his health condition ..... what does that mean and how long does that take ?

i'm trying to get to bottom of this ... he obvs needs help and cant engage on the phone with them - he failed the basic security questions. This is a common thing for him , issues engaging with ppl and systems.

i tried getting sense of the turnaround times from searching forum posts and saw recent posts stating decisions received within a month of review submission.

is there cause for alarm bells in this case ?

Ironically thats what he was calling PIP for , to tell them he had updates from his medical teams.

He asked for supporting letters last year , but following mums death , (he lived with mum and was dependent on her) i guess things just got lost, for all of us.

Lucky the team remembered the request on a recent appt and provided supporting letters.

So , what should he do ?
