Pip on pension what after Light Touch review 9-10 years later? was created by clearwater
If you were re-awarded PIP with an ongoing award / Light Touch review, shortly before you retire, what happens at the next your review approx. 9-10 years later. Would one have to apply for AA? I did search but found nothing, Has situation happened as PIP came out 2013 ish.

Hi clearwater
When you retire, if you are in receipt of PIP, you stay on PIP. What does change when you retire is the mobility component, once you reach state pension age you cannot change the mobility component of PIP, if you are on standard you cannot claim for the enhanced component or if you had a nil mobility award you cannot claim standard or enhanced.
Attendance Allowance is for claimants who had not applied for PIP prior to reaching state pension, it consists of the care component only, there is no mobility component with Attendance Allowance.

Hi Clearwater
Yes, you will stay on PIP with no age limit, as long as you are eligible. And no, the mobility component can't be increased once a claimant has reached SPA.

Thank you Bis,
i wonder if they may change Pip to something else like the old DLA to PIP, further down the road.

Hi clearwater
If you were born after 08/04/1948 and at present in receipt of DLA then you will at some stage be asked to apply for PIP, at present DLA claimants are on hold for the time being apart from children when they become 16 although this will be changing to 18.
Who knows what the Government may bring in further down the road.
