Just had a message from UC regarding our claim stating that we have been overpaid. We are a couple with one of retirement age (husband), and the other working age. The letter states that peter was eligible for the LCWRA element which increases the award but reduces the transitional protection so we owe £569.
I dont understand how a retired person can be eligble for a working element, nor do i get why this has suddenly been decided when all details were checked in dec when we transitioned to uc.
Is this correct?

I'm sorry, but we are unable to tell you why they suddenly say that you owe money or whether their calculation is correct. I would post a question in your journal or contact the Universal Credit helpline. I understand this is worrying, but they are the only people who can offer you an explanation.
