On the Universal Credit form there is a question whereby you have to enter household savings. The information on the EntitledTo benefits calculator, indicated that the household was defined as the claimant and their partner. I live alone but my daughter is just about to return from university after completing her bachelors degree. She is about to take a year out before starting her Masters. She is in receipt of PIP Standard Living Component. She was bequeathed some money recently (I'm not sure of the amount but it is greater than £16000) by her grandma to pay towards university costs. I just want to double check whether this amount is to be included in the household savings section or not. The EntitledTo calculator says no, but because this is such a critical question I would like confirmation as to whether I am supposed to declare my daughter's savings or not?

Hi JW

Children who are adults over the age of 18 are not part of your household for Benefit purposes. So a grown up son or daughter could have as much money as £1000000 and it would not affect your Benefits.
If you pay rent you may be subject to a Non Dependent Deduction which is called a Housing Cost Contribution by UC.
