Uc50 form - is it paper assessed or interview ? was created by thedoublehazecraze
Hello everyone,
I would like some insight on whether UC50 form will most likely trigger interview or it can be a paper based decision. I don’t have a lot of medical evidence apart from prescriptions, sick notes and just writing down how I struggle.
Would anything help?
Do people fill it out as though it’s it their absolute worst day?
Also how long from submission can one hear back?
Further more if I am placed in any group but it’s decided that I cannot work , would I still have to attend job centre meetings?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi thedoublehazecraze
That is an impossible question to answer. Some severely disabled people who are the subject of an LPA ( limited power of attorney ) are interviewed with their carers. While some clients are surprised and have a paper based assessment.
Human nature being what it is, it could be that a Healthcare Professional with a backlog wants to wave some through with the minimum of fuss.

My son got paper based and placed in LCWRA group back in 2019.
I think what must have helped was excellent evidence - i was able to submit a cognitive report stating his low IQ and also a very comprehensive autism report with recommendations for how to communicate with him stating things like speak slowly in short sentences.
Weirdly, they seemed to have called his GP who told the assessor that he was struggling in his supported employment and had major processing difficulties!
I say weirdly as my son had not been near a gp for at least 7 years and he was actually doing really well in his supported employment.
I did get hold of the assessor's report and it made for very gloomy reading indeed. They'd written him off!
Anyway, if you get in LCWRA group, you won't have a work coach and you won't need to go to the job centre at all. You won't be expected to work or do any courses either.
You will receive the extra health payment.
If you are placed in LCW, you will be expected to prepare for work by going on courses or doing some voluntary work and you will have a work coach.
No extra payment for this group.
