IR ESA managed migration to UC Stressssss! was created by bezzelrock
Hi I'm getting so worried now. I got the managed migration letter.
Move from income related ESA support group to UC. Simple right?!
Loads of fuss about verifying id etc, resulting in a home visit, so stressful. Anyway..
They said I am to get
Standard allowance £393.45 and LCWRA 416.19 total 809.64. Which is what I worked out too..... however
They have carried on paying ESA at lower rate than previously and decuted it from UC. And I've been receiving letters telling me to take part in new style ESA phone interviews. I've told them repeatedly I think this is wrong.
I was wrongly on contribution based esa til 2019, when it was swapped to income based and has been ever since. Please can someone tell me if it me or them thats right?! Feel like I'm losing the plot, more so than usual!

Hi bezzelrock
It appears from the figures you have provided that your UC Migration is correct.
When you applied for ESA many years ago you were automatically considered for Contributions based ESA , it is only the Income Based ESA which is optional and you must have ticked the box on the ESA1 form to claim it.
So now your Income Based ESA has ended and is replaced by UC.
However your Contributions Based ESA carries on and is called New Style ESA. Your UC will be reduced by the amount of the New Style ESA.
Everyone has to agree a claimant commitment for New Style ESA, hence your phone interview.
If you still think that this is incorrect, you can phone the Citizens Advice Help to Claim phone number which is on page 2 of your Migration letter for advice.

I had a letter in 2019 saying I was no longer on contribution based ESA.
I received roughly a £2000 payout because I never should have been on contribution based.
I've been on purely income based esa since 2019.

Also, I never actually applied for esa, it was migrated from incapacity benefits. Which is why their error with contribution based.
