Hi all, hope you can answer my query. I have been on CB new style esa support group since Sept 23 for health reasons. I have good days and bad days but daily life is so unpredictable. I am isolated and lonely , having worked all my life I am finding not being in a work environment really difficult and affecting my mental health.
I became a self employed admin clerk and had a few clients until i became unwell, naturally they had to replace me , as long term i became unreliable. I would like to do about 4 hours a week voluntary work, but have read that if i inform the DWP of this change, my ESA would be stopped. please advise what i should do. I dont want to be dishonest, I am actually quite scared of doing the wrong thing and getting in trouble. I am 64 and never had any experience of claiming benefits , how others cope with the rules and hoops of this system is beyond me. Its incredibly stressful. Thankyou

  			 				Hi Tadpole1

That is incorrect regarding ESA stopping if you do voluntary work. Who told you that?

  			 				Hi Tadpole1

Further to my last post here is the information from the DWP about volunteering.

If you get a health or disability benefit
If you have a health condition or disability, you can still volunteer. You will not need to have a Work Capability Assessment, just because you start volunteering, and you don’t need to provide evidence from your doctor about your volunteering.

You will still need to let Jobcentre Plus know about any volunteering that you are planning to do before you start.

I currently have a longterm health problem and I was awarded the ESA via being given a support worker through macmillan, who assisted me in applying. I dont even know what job centre plus is . please help
