"I had accepted the claimant commitment when doing my form. This extra letter for an additional claimant commitment via phone or in person is what is confusing me."

I think people need to be aware there's a bug in the DWP computer system where many people who get both Contributory and Income related ESA will receive letters from the DWP saying just "You are entitled to Income-related ESA.." with no mention of Contributory, giving them the false impression they aren't receiving contributory ESA. Two ways to check are:-

1. Was one ESA payment £10 higher than usual in December, and

2. Do you receive an annual P60U from the DWP showing a PAYE reference as "ESA500" (even if you don't pay tax on it due to being well below the annual threshold).

^ If so, then you do get contributory ESA (because only that is taxable and gives the £10 Xmas bonus), and Mumbo_Jumbo's two claimant commitments are probably one for UC and another for New Style ESA.

Hi a2012,

Thank you for the update, and making everyone registered on the site aware of the possible glitches with the DWP system.

Chris.

Have been doing my daughters transition to Universal Credit online but having problems, my daughter is 31 and has Fragile X Syndrome and I have to care for her since mom and my other daughter passed away, I am 74 and have some serious health problems, after my moaning they removed the commitment part from the form as she cannot understand it, I had a phone call from a lady who was not friendly but was ok but near the end when I tried to ask a question she cut me off, I did record it.
Now they are asking for a job centre appointment which she has never had to attend before. I have told them I cannot do this as I am unwell, last week my GP's called an ambulance for me as they said my Kidneys were failing and it was urgent, I had to take my daughter with me, after a day in hospital I discharged myself as my daughter was not getting any blankets or pillows to sleep in the chair they had provided. My Hospital sister where I go every 6 weeks for an infusion phoned me to say my bloods were very bad and showed an infection, despite all this we are managing at home but I just cannot meet all these demands from the DWP. Today I received a letter from them saying my daughter has carers allowance for looking after me, she does not nor ever has.
I have left a message on the journal saying I will write a complaint this weekend and send it by registered post. I'm not suprised after 28 years of fighting for both of my daughters I got used to many underhand trick used against us.
