hi, i just got my pip review completion letter, it has stayed the same as before, higher daily living and standard mobility, i am an occasional driver, is it unlikely that i could be awarded the full mobility if i ask for a mandatory consideration and possible appeal?, also is there a way i can ask the dwp for a copy of why they felt they could not award the full mobility component so that i could focus on those reasons in an appeal?
If you had a telephone, video, or fact-to-face assessment, there will be a copy of the assessment report—a PA4. You can ring the DWP and ask for a copy—it will take 7 - 10 days to arrive. This report should tell you what you were scored for mobility and why. You have four weeks from the date on the decision letter to put in for the Mandatory Reconsideration. Have a look at our Guide to Appeals which has the MR information in it. If, however, you had a paper-based assessment - you can ask if an assessment report was written (PA5), but several members have reported being told when they tried to get hold of the report that none was written and the decision was just made - which is very unsatisfactory.
The DWP is notorious for its perceived bias against claimants who drive - but being an occasional driver should not automatically prevent you from getting enhanced mobility. It will depend on your condition/s and your argument for saying that you should have been scored at a higher rate.
