What can I do if DWP sending important documents but they still haven’t arrived?

Hi
I am currently doing my PIP review and had asked the PIP helpline on the 4th November, if they could send my last PIP form (and additional pages) from 2021, as I had been very stressed when I did it and didn’t have any help to do it at the time as it was during Covid, so I totally forgot to take a copy.

I rang to ensure that it had been sent last Friday as I was starting to panic as my deadline is getting nearer and I really need it to refer back to what has changed (a lot!) and they told me that it had been sent on the 6th and could take up to 7-10 working days.

Today is the 10th day and I still have not received it! I’m going to phone them again but what should I say? Is there anyway to get them to email it? Or send it again but first class next day type thing? I’ll even offer to pay for it, I’m that desperate, as I’ve already had a few extensions!
Or send it to a job centre or the council for my father to pick up?

Basically is there anything I can do? I just want to get this over with, as again I have no help and on top of that, I’ve just received the letter asking me to transfer to universal credit (sent on the 14th but got here yesterday!). I’m extremely stressed and don’t know what to do. I’m also having major problems getting any support letters…my psychiatrist said she would write one on the 18th October but despite politely chasing, I still haven’t had that either.

Should I try to contact Royal Mail or the local post depot to see if they could track it down?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

Hi Charle

I'm sorry to hear of the problems you have. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can tell you apart from ringing them and asking them to send another copy. You can ask them if they have any process for sending it by first class - but I doubt it will happen. Remember the person you speak to on the phone is probably not the person who is going to fulfill your request. It will go through a couple of steps to be put in a mail sack to leave a building and get taken to a post office - that's why it generally takes so long for things to arrive. They don't email out such information.

You won't get any joy from your local postal depot because it won't have been sent from the DWP with any trackable information on it.

I'm sorry I can't help, but you will just have to try and ask them to send the information again. Check with them about sending your form back—they may not be willing to give you another extension if you need one. You can return your form and say that you will be sending additional information, such as a letter from your psychiatrist when you have it.

Hi BIS

Thanks. I phoned them in the end after a lot of encouragement and got through to a case worker eventually.
As usual there had been some confusion (they lost my mandatory reconsideration twice one year), and apparently it doesn’t seem like it had been sent till the 14th (when I phoned last!) rather than the 6th. The guy I spoke to was very helpful and took my email address and is going to speak to the records team to see if they could email it but said to ring again at the end of next week if it still hasn’t arrived, either way.

He also gave me another extension (I hope…I always doubt myself until I have proof and I won’t get the text confirmation till tomorrow!) till the 15th January, without me even asking! He just did it and let me know at the end of the call. I want to get it done way before then, because it’s so stressful but at least I don’t have to rush as much and I’m sure I’ll be asking more questions here, as I go along, as it’s the first time I’ve done a review, despite claiming for years (always won at tribunal before) so it’s all new to me.

Hi Charlie

Well done, you for finding the strength to contact them. So pleased to hear that you have been given extra time. I really hope your documents do arrive - and if it's by email - even better!
