PIP Evidence was created by Ryan
Hi,

I am currently migrating from ESA support group over to UC and want to claim PIP.

I have suffered from depression and social anxiety for 22 years now. The only treatment I get is medication, as my social anxiety is so bad I would rather not get help as the physical and mental stress I would have to go through to see someone is too much for me to handle. Currently, on the same medication for the last 18 years.

Ever since COVID, I have telephone calls from my GP roughly every 6 months to see how I am getting on. Basically all they ask is 'How are you getting on?' and I reply 'Everything is the same' and that's it for 6 months. For me, basically 'Everything is the same' means I don't leave my house at all and the only people I can speak to without any problems is my wife and daughter.

Would it be worth having an appointment with my GP and go through all that anxiety to make sure everything they have about my condition is up-to-date. Would a GP allow such an appointment? and What would I say to my GP?

Thanks very much for your help, I really appreciate it.

Hi Ryan

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum.

Yes it would be worth having an appointment with your GP to discuss your anxiety and fears. Unfortunately not all GP are accommodating due to time constraints.

As they say nothing ventured nothing gained, it would be worth contacting. We cannot tell you what to say but what you are looking for is support to help with your claim.

I am sure fellow members will give you sound pointers and advice.
