HAD THE DREADED UNIVERSAL CREDIT LETTER was created by DC
hi, ive just received a letter forcing me onto Universal Credit & have 3 month to apply. Im on ESA support & PIP, bacause of my severe anxiety I am unable to even click on the website link on the letter. Do i have to go through and input all my health conditions, from heart attack, alcoholism, severe anxiety and depression and others??? They should have all this information. I cant face bringing it all up again on yet more governments demands for info they already have. ALSO will my PIP transfer to Universal Credit or still paid seperately. Any advice please whould be greatly appreciated. Im sure they just want to wear people down and not apply.

Hi DC,
Half way down your letter for Managed Migration to UC you should have been given the Citizens Advice Help to Claim phone number which is -
England: 0800 144 8 444
Scotland: 0800 023 2581
Wales: 08000 241 220
I would advise you to phone them and let them organise your new UC claim for you. Citizens Advice will supervise everything until you get your first payment.
Here is more information about the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service.
www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/conta...ct-us/help-to-claim/
Let me know how you get on.

Hello David,
- Can the Citizens Advice Bureau Help To Claim do the online application on our behalf?
- Or we do the online application and they help us through the process?
Many thanks David.
Best wishes

Hi Via,
The DWP have told Help to Claim that Universal Credit must be Digital by Default. This means that if you have the capacity to go online or use a smart phone then you must do. The exceptions are given here.
" here are various reasons why some people may not be able to manage
their UC claim digitally for example:
• physical or mental ill health or disability
• visual impairments
• lack of basic literacy
• lack of skills and training
• legal limitations such as Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements
(MAPPA) or Terrorism Prevention Investigation Measures (TPIM)
In circumstances such as these claims can be made by phone"
So the DWP have instructed Help to Claim to assist you by advising you how to set up your claim online ( or on your phone ) unless you are exempted for the above reasons. If you are exempted then you don't have to actually input any data yourself ,you just talk it through over the phone ( or if unable to talk this can be done by a support worker ).
Hope this helps,
David

thanks for your reply, the only phone number is on the letter is 0800 169 0328, at the top of the letter, same under the "How To Claim Universal Credit" & same number "how to Get Help" which I assume will put me straight into the DWP, the citizens Advce number, conveniently on the back page, there is also a website www.citizensadvice.org.uk/helptoclaim.
They just want to put people straight through to DWP so they can humiliate you and feel pathetic. Not acceptible. They already have all my medical history, including from My GP about my severe mental health issues and even from my local MP.
They just dont care and I would rather die than have to go through talking about all my issues. THEY have it on record. Disgusting, i feel like just leaving it and wait till i starve or freeze to death. The Citizens Advice in my area is impossible to get an appointment. I hope other people have a better service from their local services. UNFORGIVEABLE

Hi DC,
I thought I would mention that the Citizens Advice Help to Claim is different from the local Citizens Advice branch. Help to Claim is staffed by paid employees who are highly trained. Local Citizens Advice are largely staffed by volunteers and generalist advisers. So by all means phone Help to Claim on the number given in your Migration letter.
