Migration question UC from ESA support

I got my migration letter it states that I must claim by 3rd of December.
Hearing all the horror stories about being without money for 6 weeks with Christmas coming up and myself and being disabled and on PIP and 2 children both on high care DLA. With low mobility is it better to bite the bullet now or wait till end of November to put in the claim for migration?
I am so so worried, my husband only works 15 hrs as he is our carer. We both get carers allowance got our children will all money : child tax credit, esa, carers allowance and Pip, DLA stop?
What do people do in that situation?

Hi AlexB,

Are your current Benefits likely to go up or down before the end of November. Things that change Benefits amounts are children becoming 18 or leaving home or pay increase or pay decreases etc. So you want your current Benefits to be a high amount so that you get the full Transitional Protection. If there aren't going to be any changes before the end of November ( or 3 December deadline day ) it doesn't matter when you claim Universal Credit as your Transitional Protection will remain the same ( though claim before 3 December deadline day ).
Your old Benefits called Legacy Benefits will be replaced by UC and the Transitional Protection means that you will not be worse off.
Does your letter give the details of the Citizens Advice Help to Claim service? If so I would make use of it. Help to Claim is staffed by salaried advisers ( not Citizens Advice volunteers ) and they are paid via the DWP contract to supervise Managed Migration.

PIP and DLA won't stop. They are not part of UC
