PIP was created by Tigerlily11
Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I helped a vulnerable neighbour get PIP 2 years ago and he has now been sent a renewal form. It was Paper Based the last time with no Face to Face medical but I think that was more to do with COVID than my form filling. I did ask for all the information afterwards on how they came to the decision and they sent a PA3 form. They had contacted my neighbours Doctor and Social worker who both filled out forms which were included in the PA3. I would like to ask for a Paper Based PIP renewal this time but don’t know how to word it. We also don’t have any new information as my neighbour has not seen a Doctor since he got PIP or his Social worker. He has his repeat prescription medications but does not go out at all due to social anxiety among other things.
I would be very grateful for any advice.

Thank you
Jessica

Treat it as a new claim for PIP even if they have been sent an AR1 Review form. Use our PIP Claim guide to complete the form in detail explaining why he meets each Descriptor you think he should score for.

If you have any specific questions then please come back to the forum.

My neighbour has just found out he has been awarded his PIP until December 2027, one year before he turns 65. Should I ring and ask them to send anything they based their decision on? Is there anything else I should ask? He is just so relieved and especially knowing the outcome before Christmas has been a weight of his shoulders.

Thank you for any advice at all.

Hi Tigerlily11

The age 65 nowadays is just a red herring, it does not mean anything, the age of 65 used to be state pension age but now it is 66 going up to 67 then 68.

What you need to ask for is a copy of the assessors report called a PA4, this is usually what the decision makers base their report on, but not always.

Your neighbour can sit back and relax ..... 🏖

Thank you Gary, I’ll ring tomorrow.
Will I need my neighbour beside me when I ring or is it enough to have their NI number and details?
Thanks again Gary
