Even though this is a slightly older post. I thought I'd mention that I got this letter after actually having an assessment. (Telephone) It's stated they don't send these letters often, and from what I've seen, people only seem to get this because they have been given a paper based assessment and so no need for any further assessment.

Just thought I'd put it out there. Been getting pip/dla since 2010, always had an assessment, never had this letter before.
To tell me that after providing my form, medical records/evidence, GP letter, OT letters/assessment reports, plus a 90 Minute serco telephone assessment with a 'healthcare professional' ( For an incurable degenerative physical condition and a congenital neuro developmental disorder.-both lifelong With no cure) that i have beem getting pip for for so many years) that they NOW had enough information to decide my claim seems to put it mildly, a
Tremendouse waste of resources-instead of making it harder to claim disability benefits to save money, just stop sending pointless non informative letters, that will save you millions I'm sure. A text would have sufficed if they really thought we needed these super helpful words...the mind boggles. I wonder what the real life monetary and environmental cost of a letter like that is? From typing, to printing, to postage, wages, paper, ink, electricity, fuel. Carbon footprint etc...where's the justification? 🤷🏽‍♀️
