The long awaited brown envelope dropped through my letterbox today and I have been put in the support group for ESA! To say I am relieved is a vast understatement. It has taken over 7 months but at last I have the result I hoped for, but didn't expect, given all the difficulties most people have with this system. I am grateful for the advice and guides on this site that helped me explain my conditions and how they affect me.
I am now thinking I might apply for PIP, I didn't want to apply before I had a decision on the ESA as I think it would have been too stressful. Does anyone know if my ESA WCA might be used to make the PIP decision or will I have to have another assessment?

  			 				Hi Carole,

That's great news about your ESA! Thanks for letting us know and for your kind words about B+W

Although they appear similar in places, the criteria for PIP and ESA are quite different. They will not use your ESA assessment to decide about PIP. Whether or not you need to have a face2face assessment will depend on whether the HCP believes they have enough information to make a recommendation without.

As always, our PIP guide will help you through the process.
