PIP Mobility need help was created by Tim
Hello Forum,
Well the brown envelope arrived on my doormat last Thursday PIP award daily living allowance from 23 December 2015 to 8 Nov 2020 . Awarded 9 Points
The Mobility component of PIP at the Standard Rate from same date as above . Now my question is i am currently receiving the Enhanced rate on D LA but now moved on to PIP I lose the Enhanced Rate on the 22nd of December 2015 yet my mobility. Condition has not changed
Total Score for Mobility is 10 Points That score was awarded for moving around ,
No points awarded for the question You can plan and follow a route unaided this gives a score of 0 , In my answer on the form we completed for PIP the answer was No I could not do plan and follow a route unaided .
By not getting a score of 12 Polnts I have lost my free car tax .I wonder what I should do to try to get the extra 2 points ,Your advice would be very much appreciated
Many Thanks
Tim

Hi Tim
I expect you will have decided to go for Mandatory Reconsideration; if so you will be able to query the points you have issue with, namely inability to plan and follow a route unaided.
Unless you explain fully exactly why you are unable to do this, then you are not going to get very far; (sorry if that sounds a bit abrupt), but the fact is that you have to have very specific reasons for your inability to manage this part of the mobility question. Mobility issues are not difficult to substantiate, but inability to follow a route or plan implies some cognitive disability/maybe mental health issue which needs to be discussed.
I would read through the guide again carefully, and see where you can explain your problems more fully and substantiate your claim with any medical evidence you might have. Get back to us if you need anything more explaining, please? Good luck.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Tim,
The mobility descriptors for enhanced PIP mobility have deliberately been set so that many people who currently receive DLA HRM will lose out
As Shelam says, you will need to have mental health or cognitive difficulties in order to score points for the 'Planning and following a route'. If this is the case, you will need to clearly show this in a MR or appeal submission, if you decide to go down this route. You should be aware that DWP can look at your whole award again so, before you submit a MR request, you should be sure of 2 things in your own mind - 1) That your care award is safe and 2) that you will score the necessary points for planning and following a route.
This is all covered in our PIP guides
