I have received my first payment of dla today...I filled on the firm myself (though my gp wrote a fantastic piece on her end of the form) ...timeline for this was requested form 8/9/15 posted form recorded delivery on 5/10/15 only received a letter yesterday 12/10/15 that claim was in & would find out with min 7 weeks then payment in my bank this morning! Such a weight of my mind.
I'm still awaiting my esa decision though ...so far I've only sent off the esa1 to them still waiting on the esa50. ..my jsa claim ended 15th Sept & have been receiving nothing from them since!!
I'm still confused over this & can't get any answers from them -- my husband has just started 3 yr course at college ...we are awaiting on his bursary award however the bursary office need proof of esa which we can't give them & the esa say they need proof of bursary to process my claim!! My husband rang the esa yesterday again & was told it was with the decision maker so call back in a few days.
Housing benefit letter came today to say our housing has been frozen as awaiting bursary letter also!
If I am now in receipt of dla (albeit with no letter yet!) Does this mean my hosing benefit will restart itself? Should we ring them today? Is there anything else I've to inform of this change? Should we ring the esa today to tell them of this too? Also tax credits and student bursary office?
Sorry for the long post it's just so overwhelming trying to get everything sorted out & can't believe my dla is sorted now too!
Thanks again

Congratulations on the DLA award and thank you for your comments about the site.
I'm afraid your DLA being sorted will not be of assistance with your Housing Benefit, both your ESA and the HB are pending because of an issue over eligibility, the bursary is being treated as income and there must be questions over whether it is too high to allow payment. I suspect the problem is compounded because this type of payment is not normally averaged across the full 52 weeks of the year, I'm afraid there is little you can do about this, you can try contacting your MP about the problem, but be aware all they can do is hasten the decision, not influence the result.
Even if the DWP rule against you, you should consider continuing with your claim as this initial Decision will be based on your receiving the ESA Assessment rate, if an award is made then the applicable amount will increase and the DWP will again have to decide whether you should receive payment.

It is an NHS bursary will receive so is paid throughout the full year so that might make a difference to them hopefully.
He does actually receive a payment tomorrow of his bursary ...the bursary office will only pay him at the minute the basic bursary amount and cannot calculate the dependants allowances (ie: spouse & kids) until our esa is allowed or not.
I thought I had read somewhere that if full time students or partner is in receipt of dla then they are still eligible for receiving esa? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks

Full time students also in receipt of DLA MRC or HRC or a PIP Daily Living Allowance are automatically eligible for the WRAG rate of ESA, however, their partners are not.
However, this appears to be a payment question and this is not effected by whether the claimant receives DLA/PIP or not. A claimant can be eligible for ESA but not entitled to payment because of their household income.

Going on from my previous post I would like to let you know that I have received a letter from the ESA informing me I am entitled to £10.85 per week ESA (assessment phase I think!) This is using tax years April 2013 - April 2014 ...is this the correct tax years they should be using?
I have also received the ESA50 form to fill in now & send off...however I am confused on how to proceed ...my husband has his full bursary amount through now so I will have to ring the ESA to let them know this as the ESA i have been awarded is based on the basic amount if bursary whereas he now has the dependants amount added on therefore this seems to me that I would loose this £10.85 a week as it is double the amount of the basic rate payment.
Now the silly questions! Do I go ahead with the ESA50 or is it pointless as I wouldn't qualify for a payment or is it a case of if I get put into the support group I do receive full payment on ESA?
This is such a minefield trying to get it sorted in regards to having a partner who us a full time student as there is no straight up help from anyone!
I am just so confused right now!
Also we are still waiting on our housing benefit decision - my husband rang to inform them I am now in receipt of DLA....they also have the info of the full bursary payment so we are unsure of what will happen to our housing benefit if we get any help or not!!
Any and all advice greatly appreciated right now
