I just posted my son's PIP claim. Luckily I decided to send it recorded delivery. It contained medical reports and other evidence as well as the form.
The post office told me that I was lucky i hadn't just posted it because it was over 100 grams and the postage paid envelope only covers up to that amount.
Apparently the DWP will not pay extra postage so the envelope would have been returned if I had an address on the outside and otherwise would be forwarded to Belfast for destruction by the dead letter office.
I couldn't believe that so phoned Royal Mail customer services and they confirmed that was the case. I still found it hard to believe and phoned the DWP. They confirmed they won't pay excess postage!
No wonder so many forms go astray!
