Pip nightmare was created by Jersey
Ok this is my PIP nightmare. I was awarded Standard rate care and standard rate mobility in 2013. At the beginning of this year I (stupidly) rang dwp to inform them my condition had deteriorated on the mobility side (as per the dwp extra info notes stated) filled in the forms, had the face to face assessment (at home because of mental health) decision came back and to my dismay they had took away the mobility consonant altogether! Asked for the decision to be looked at again but as I suffer from depression I didn't think to send any back up info . Decision was upheld. I'm now at appeal stage and I'm petrified! I don't take Any journeys without someone with me and I certainly don't take any unfamiliar journeys at all. Now I have to go to birmingham to sit and talk to strangers who will decide my fete. I would have thrown in the towel at the first stage but my daughter says I have to go through with it because I need it. Q: how can I get hold of the medical assessment report? The assessor also lied on 2 counts that I can prove I need help please guys. Thanks

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

If you have lodged an appeal with the Tribunal Service then you will receive a copy of the assessors report as part of the DWP's submission, you can also request a copy by contacting the DWP office that dealt with your claim.

You might want to have a look at our PIP Appeal guide and the PIP Claim guide on the following link

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;

"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"

than their opinions

"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.
