Do you mean Carers Allowance or that the Care component has now been awarded where you were previously only receiving Mobility?
Carers Allowance can only be backdated by three months, the only exception to this is that it can be backdated to the start of a
new and suitable Care award of either DLA, PIP or AA, if the claim is made within one month of the
new Care award being made.
If your Care award was made in 2012 then you are outside of this backdating limit.
OR
If you now have a Care award for DLA, then this can only be backdated if you notified the DWP of a Change of Circumstances, in which case it should be paid from the date you notified them.
If the Care award was the result of a normal re-assessment then it will only be payable from the date that the Decision is effective from.
