PIP assessment or PIP medical assessment

There seems to be a lot of confusion around the title of the assessment carried out for PIP. If it is in fact a 'medical' as some call it, would it not have to be carried out by a medically trained person. Ive read some people have have blood pressure taken, been 'examined', and/or asked to 'perform' various exercises.
This seems to cause some anxiety and confusion over who can do what?

Does anyone know where the term medical assessment came from/

Hi Rr,

Maybe because they were more akin to a traditional Medical in times past.

They are more a Q & A session now which may involve some basic physical examination.

See from Page 70 of our : PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)
