mandatory reconcideration was created by jan
hi wonder if you may be able to help my husband has been awarded pip standard rate mobility but nothing for daily living we feel he should have got standard rate for this as well. we have asked by telephone for it to be looked at again and are going to send in a follow up letter saying which disriptors in the daily living we disagree with, we think he should of been awarded 10 points he only got 6 but I am worried could they change there mind about the mobility award if you ask for the daily living to be looked at again. don't no what to do for the best advise would be welcomed.will they only look at the daily living component if you say your happy with the mobility?

You can ask for only one component to be looked at during the MR but the DWP are entitled to look at both if on review there are questions raised about the unchallenged part. The risk is low but we do have members who have had a reduced award or even had the existing award removed.

Things you should consider are how the mobility award was made, for example if you scored 10 points then you are at less risk than if you only scored the 8 required. You also need to think about how likely you are to gain the extra points, if the 6 points was in one Descriptor then it may be more difficult to get the points than if the points were scored across a range of them, although the reverse can also be the case depending on your conditions.

It's a decision that only you can make.
