No, it is not a "medical" in the true sense of the word !
It is more a Q & A session which "may" involve some very basic physical examinations.

ESA Medical – What to expect You should also be aware that how you manage the trip to and from the Assessment Centre will be used as part of the assessment, especially if you state that you have mobility issues or mental health issues that limit you going out.
You may be observed on approaching the building, whilst inside, and on leaving the building.
The Assessor may make assumptions as a result of such observations, and these assumptions may result in comments/recommendations being made within The ESA85 Medical Report that they compile for the DWP.
Due to the increasing number of members that are receiving appointments for ESA face to face assessments from Maximus (CHDA) without first being given the opportunity to fill in and return a current ESA50 Questionnaire, we have compiled the following advice :
Invited to a face to face assessment but no ESA50 sent. Hope this helps
