Hi Just thought this may be helpful for those wanting a home cnsultation with Atos for PIP that get get stressed or cant face talking to their contact centre on the phone.
I suffer from agoraphobia, ME, worn disc, depression panic & anxiety attacks I received a letter from Atos giving me an appointment miles away from home.
Decided to email them as I didn't want to phone them and get stressed out, as in the past when i've phoned they've told me to get a letter/fax from my GP and then they only authorised a taxi.
Initially I emailed them stating that I couldn't go to the F2F as it was too far away even with someone and that apart from other medical conditions I was agoraphobic and was in receipt of standard Care and Mobility since going to tribunal and before that had a lifelong award for Low mobility after going to tribunal.
I asked if they bothered to read the forms and medical evidence supplied before allocating appointments and that if the appointment wasn't changed I would lodge a complaint and contact my MP.
I had a reply back within 24 hours asking if they could phone me and asking for convenient times. I replied by email that they cold and the times best to phone me.
I didn't get to the phone in time when they did phone and when I checked my emails there was one from Atos saying that they had tried to phone and were going to pass my file to the appropriate person to see if they would authorise a Home Consultation. I replied back apologising for missing their call and thanking them for passing my papers on for a home consultation. I also explained in this email how having a Home Consultation would be less stressful, etc.
Next day I had an email back stating that they had looked at my evidence and a Home consultation had been authorised, that they had cancelled my F2F miles away and that they would be in contact when this would take place. 2 days later I received a letter confirming this. So now i've got a Home Consultation without the stress by emailing and the emails are proof if there was a problem unlike phone calls where they could say that you didn't phone or something. It may have taken a few days but I would thoroughly recommend emailing them rather than phoning them.
