Taking nutrition - bipolar disorder

I am completing my PIP2 form and have struggled with this section. All of my medical evidence indicates I have no problems with my appetite, but that's just how I was feeling at the time of the assessment. I am worried the Case Manager will therefore score me 0 points for needing nutrition based on this evidence. I can't not include the evidence as a lot of it is helpful, but in this respect it is not.

I also have problems around binge/purging, although I am not diagnosed as bulimic. I have included this in this section, but again I worry the Case Manager will think "How can he have no appetite and also have problems binge/purging", but this is the case: sometimes I comfort eat and purge, sometimes I just don't eat at all without encouragement, it all depends how low I am.

I just wanted to throw this out there. I am currently on DLA HRC LRM and ESA SG "work unlikely in the longer term" on my ESA85. It is these medical reports that helped secure that ESA victory.

You need to be able to take nutrition reliably and for the majority of days not to score points.

If you have a look at the PIP Claim guide then these issues are explained in more depth.

You say that you have no medical evidence to support your eating problems, is this something that you have discussed with your GP? I assume that you are not receiving treatment for this problem?

There is no specific requirement for there to be medical evidence to support a claim or a particular condition, although it most certainly helps if you have it, is it possible that this issue is suggested by your other diagnosis's?

The bottom line is that all you can do is explain your problems, how they affect you and how often and see what happens.
