Hi bd42,
We cannot give personal financial advice on the forum.
You need to gain professional face to face advice where they have access to all your financial and personal information so that they can advise you personally, and you can make an informed decision as a result of the advice..
Basically, the fact that you are in The Support Group has no relevance in itself regarding whether or not your hubby should take a lump sum.
It is the "type" of ESA that you are in receipt of in The SG that is relevant.
If all your ESA payments are Contribution Based (CB) any amount of lump sum that your husband may take will have no affect on your CB ESA payments. CB ESA is not means-tested.
If all or part of your ESA Payments are Income Related (IR) ESA, and the lump sum takes your capital, assets or savings above £16,000, all/any of the IR ESA payments that you may be receiving will cease.
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
Regarding your DLA, or indeed PIP, neither of these are reliant on passing a means test, so again, any amount of lump sum will have no affect on your DLA payments.
