PIP assessment was created by Fanton
Hello, I completed and returned my PIP2 form for the 21st May, I subsequently received an ATOS letter saying I would be contacted for a medical dated 20th May and later a request to attend a medical on the 9th June, this letter was dated 24th May (a Sunday?) due to the ATOS letter dates none of this would seem to take into consideration any mitigation supplied in the PIP2 form regarding attending a medical. Is this correct.

I should point out I suffer with Mental Absences (like someone else is in control), confusion, verbal outbursts (sometimes harmless like lines from movies sometimes offensive sexually or racially) , I am taking Quetiapine an anti psychotic and very much cannot attend a medical, I live alone, am deeply paranoid and mistrusting of people, I am socially avoidant.

There is a phone number to call about attending (I'm petrified of the telephone) apart from trying to get an emergency appointment with my GP does anyone have any useful advice on coping and convincing ATOS to either wait for a GP letter or a home visit at worst

my PIP2 had an ATOS form completed by my GP from my last ESA stating I should not attend a medical which DWP accepted but given the dates of the letters it looks unlikely any of this has been considered

thank you for reading

Welcome to the forum.

IT is ATOS's policy to do the majority of assessments at their offices so it I am not entirely surprised that they have not offered a home assessment for yours.

You say that you included a letter from your GP, used for your ESA claim , that resulted in a home assessment, how old is this? If it is older than six months then it may have been discounted as no longer being relevant.

Can you get a new letter from your GP? They need to explain not only that you cannot attend but why.

I am afraid that the decision on a home assessment lies wholly with ATOS, so it is possible that they will still refuse, if this is the case then you can try and get your MP involved, see

Hello, thank you for taking the time to reply,

Yes the GP supporting info was an actual ATOS supplied doctor questionaire. It was filled in when I had to renew ESA and I didn't have to attend a medical. As you mention it was over 6 months old so I see your point about it being ignored.

I am seeing my GP on Tue and will ask for a supporting letter then.

I am seeing the mental health team on Wed and they may be able to dismiss atos due to my mental absences which are made worse and more frequent all of this.

If I need to I will have to see if atos will accept new info to dismiss attendance or at the very least offer a home visit.

worst case I suppose is ask for the appointment to be made as far into the future as is needed to write to my MP

thank you again for your help
