PIP 2: Where to state problem attending a F2F was created by MariW
Looking back on last year’s ESA 50 there was a page near the beginning of the form in which the claimant could state problems he/she might face in reaching/ attending a face-to-face assessment at an Atos venue. Using the PDF version of the form and continuing onto an addition sheet I was able to give a rapid description of my disability before the first specific question. I placed in the support group without a medical.
The PIP 2 form is rather more difficult to complete for want of a downloadable PDF. The spaces for my carer to write is very small. When my “invitation” arrives, I shall be including many additional pages but there is not obvious place to state problems getting to and attending an Atos (or Capita) centre. Where is this information best located?
• Within each relevant answer?
• In additional information?
• Both of the above?
• Elsewhere in the form?
Thanks,
Mari

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

The advice in the PIP Claim guide is to include it in Q15 Additional Information, but this should obviously be a refection of the information that you have specified in regard to the Descriptor questions (Q3-Q14).

I have a lot of additional information!
Would references to problems getting to a centre, mobilising within it, and other major physical difficulties be appropriate either in the body of an answer (Q3-14) as well as in the extra information in reply to Q15?

Yes, you need to explain why you cannot attend in detail. So for example, if you have problems walking you would explain this in Q14 in detail and then refer to these problems in Q15 as reason why you cannot attend.

Hi MW,
If you are still in The SG at the time, and "Mobilising" was one of/the reason for SG status, you could cite this as proof that you have recognised limitations in "Walking" aided or unaided and self propelling a manual wheelchair unaided.
This would be a good indication that you would not be able/struggle to attend a PIP Consultation Centre.
Remember, it is 20 metres for PIP Enhanced Mobility, not the 50 metres for SG "Mobilising", so don't "paint yourself into a corner" with any clear cut statements.

Thanks, Gordon
That's how I'll plan it in readiness for the invitation.
