B) Hi

I have recently received an appt to visit me in my own home, by ESA to check re my finances but I suspect it may also be to make an assessment of how I am.

Does anyone know if I have to accept this visit, or have you any advice ?

I have suffered from long-term mental health problems for over 35 years and have had several diagnoses.. .

Thank you

Tracy

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

A lot of our members are receiving these letters, I'm afraid if it is described as a financial assessment then there is little that you can do to avoid it.

It is not a re-assessment of your claim, the people you are seeing will not be qualified to do this.

If the appointment is not convenient you should be able to move it to a date that it.

You can have someone with you, either a friend or family.

They may want to see your back statements so if you can have them to hand it might help.

Try not to worry about the visit too much, as I said earlier, lots of our members have had these visits and as far as I am aware none of them have gone badly.

Can I ask ; who gets these visits?
Is it for people on income based ESA only or is it for all ESA receivers?

I just wondered,

Many thanks again.

Hi S1,

It can be either, as even though CB ESA is non means tested, receiving an Occupational Pension in excess of £85/Week can result in deductions from your CB ESA.
