DLA renewal ? was created by lousnan
Some advice please I am currently filling in my DLA renewal form and have been for the last 6 weeks (renewal due in July 2015)
I am using your guides and finding them informative but obviously because I have quite a few physical

conditions it means that I am repeating myself continuously with each question and this is stressing me out enormously.

My query is... with all the extra information that I am writing by hand will the decision maker "get fed up" reading them and just ignore them or would I be better to get someone to type out all the extra pages to make it easier for them to read.

I personally would like to send in the extra writings as they are, scribblings out as well.
I am nearly 70 years of age and I have physical problems but this renewal form is making me doubt my sanity. Writing this renewal has taken over my life and the stress is causing me to have "flare ups"of my conditions but on the other hand I can't let it beat me. Sorry if this seems a little "off the wall".

Hi LN and welcome to the forum. You seem to have found your way around the site but this link might help you further.

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Yes, the constant repetition is exhausting isn't it (not to mention soul destroying)?! However, you should answer each question in full, even if this does mean saying the same thing over and over again.

There are 2 schools of thought regarding typing your answers vs handwriting them. If you get them typed they will be easier for the assessor to read and less likely to mis-reading/misunderstanding. However, handwriting allows the assessor to see the trouble you had completing the form. If you do get someone else to type your answers you should state this and the reason why.

If you have further questions, please reply to this message and we will do our best to help. You will find it easily in future if you bookmark/favourite it on your web browser now :)

Thank you for your reply. I think i will send in the handwritten notes wart and all... However i do think this is going to take me a while. I hope it is'nt an expectation that the form will be filled in immediately. Because the pressure in my head will not allow me to write for very long.
Once again thank you.

Looking for some advice....I eventually sent my renewal form off in May (renewal date is July 7th 2015)

I received 2 letters back one stating that they had received my form and were asking my GP for more information the second stating they were considering my renewal and would be in touch.

I have spoken to my Doctor in the last two weeks and she says she has not been asked for any information. She also informed me that I had been diagnosed with COPD and showed me a letter from the consultant at the hospital written in 2013 . Unfortunately because I have other health issues it seems to have been overlooked.

My dilemma is that my DLA runs out on the 7th July and my Blue badge also... what should I do ...should I get in touch with DWP or should I just wait to hear from them? Should I inform them that I made a mistake saying that my asthma is causing me problems when in fact i don't have asthma but COPD.

Also is there a possibility that DWP just say they are contacting GPs but in reality they don't...I am possibly beginning to feel paranoid and that I am a player in a game but I feel very apprehensive about contacting DWP. Sorry if this seems rambling.

The DWP cannot take into account this new diagnosis if you don't tell them about it in the first place!

Check with the Practice Manage at your surgery, they will know whether a GP Factual Report (GPFR) has been sent by the DWP.
