Part Time Study and ESA was created by Katie E
Hi
I have recently received my ESA re-assessment form and in it have informed them I am studying a part time distance learning degree course, I can do this entirely from home and have a study needs agreement set up with the university. It's less than 16 hours a week and they help me when I'm poorly. It's been the best thing to happen to me in a long while but I'm concerned this will effect my claim. I just wondered if anyone could offer any advice on this and how it might be seen by the assessors?
One last question is, does anyone know how long it takes to for a response once the form has been handed in either for a decision or letter for a medical? I've not had an assessment for a few years and am unsure of the timescale.
Any help is much appreciated!
Best Wishes

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

There should be no issues with your ESA providing your doing this course does not contradict any of your stated limitations, for example if you have said that you have problems starting and finishing tasks then this might raise concern.
At the moment there are considerable delays in the ESA system, the vast majority of claims are being processed using a first in, first out process, waiting times are down from their peak of about 15 months, but I would still expect it to be many months before you have any movement on your re-assessment.

Hi Gordon,
Thanks for your reply, can I just check with you I am looking to fill in the PDF version of the re-assessment form online.
I struggled to find the link for the ESA50 02/15 form but think I have found it here:
www.gov.uk/government/publications/capab...r-work-questionnaire
Can you help confirm this is the correct form to fill out as the link for the other form is an ESA1 form which looks to be for new claims.
Also the delays you speak of is that between handing the form in and receiving a letter for a medical? or the final decision?
Thank you for all your help, its much appreciated.
Kind Regards,

Yes that is the form, see the following for how to use it.
Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire
The delays I mentioned are from submitting the ESA50 to receiving a appointment for an assessment.
