Pension and esa plus pip was created by oldman
I am on enhanced rates both pip components, support group esa contribution based. I have just been informed that my military preserved pension is to be paid with immediate effect. My question is are both esa and pip abated by pension or just one of them.

Hi om,
Your pension will have no effect whatsoever on your PIP.
If your ESA payments are all Contribution Based, (CB) there is an £85/Week pension disregard rule.
In that any weekly excess of the £85 will be deducted from your weekly ESA at a rate of 50% of the excess.
e.g. Pension = £105/Week = £20/Week excess.
50% of the £20/Week excess = £10.
Therefore in this example £10 would be deducted from your weekly CB ESA payments.
You must inform ESA in writing of your pension, even if it is below £85/Week, you do not have to inform PIP.
Do so in writing to the address of the Benefit Office/Centre on your most recent ESA letter : Sending Documents to the DWP.
