council tax was created by Tommy Miner
last year i stayed at my sons home for a short period of time just after coming out of hospital having major surgery to help me recover from the surgery because he has more facilities than i do at my property such as bathrooms upstairs and downstairs which were of great help to me you can appreciatre what we were all going through at the time due to my serious health problems my question is this at the time he was claiming single occupancy on his council tax on his property and we failed unintentionally to inform the council that more than one person was living there please advise only now realised this occured as i am sure you can understand that all our concerns at the time was on my wellbeing hope you can help me get us out of this situation taking into consideration it was an hopefully oversight not to inform council that more than one person was staying at the property for a short time in helping me recover my health due to my bowel cancer operation thanks tommy desperate for guidance

We don't advise on council tax so I can only offer an opinion on the matter.
First of all, staying with someone is not the same as living with someone, I assume that you retained your normal place of residence and continued to pay Council Tax to your Local Authority. Also staying a few weeks is a lot different from staying a few months, although even this may not be a problem.
Ultimately, it is only a Decision that the LA can make, if you are concerned that your son's single person status may have been affected then he needs to contact his LA and make them aware of the circumstances under which you stayed with him.
