PIP H.P assesor report

No award of PIP from high mobility and middle care ! I'm currently using your guides to help collate information for a mandatory reconsideration, for my husband who has fibromyalgia and clinical depression with anxiety. I have received the HP report and frequently thought the report the assessor has put things like" edgy" "nervous" "industry based" deafness into these "" marks he has also stated that my GP is "funny about prescribing over the counter medication" when I said our gp does not prescribe paracetamol even for children if you can buy it over the counter. The HP had his own opinion about things and said why should people with artificial limbs but can climb mountains or take part in the Paralympics be awarded the same level of financial support as someone who can't do anything for themselves he also suggested aids that could be used he's has questioned a support group my husband attends as it involves wood work therefore the HP suggests hubby can now prepare a meal and as he can drive there is no issue with preparing a meal and managing his medication all support and advise welcome feeling very stressed

Sorry to hear this !!

The PIP Assessor should not be voicing their own personal opinions regarding such issues, it is beyond their remit.

They are supposed to carry out the Consultation objectively, paying heed to : The Guidance given, within the constraints of The PIP Legislation.

You can point out any discrepancies within your MR Request, but the important issue is to reiterate how and why a suitable PIP Award should have been made.

I read somewhere in the DWP blurbs that awards are made to reflect the effect of a medical condition & not for having the medical condition so it would be hard to argue that Oscar Pestorious had severe mobility problems.

I agreee that the assessor shouldn't have mentioned it but as per my first paragraph, this is why he held that viewpoint.

My wife suffers from confusion, anxiety & depression so whilst she may be able to cook, her lack of motivation prevents her from cooking & lack of motivation is a recognised condition when assessing whether or not a person can perform a task.

It is the limitations/disabilities that you suffer as a result of your medical conditions that may or may not give you a PIP Award, rather than the medical conditions themselves.

The PIP 2 Form's title is "How your Disability Affects You".

Several people with the same medical conditions may all suffer different limitations/disabilities.

The limitations/disabilities should be treated as personal and unique to the individual claimant.

The PIP Assessor sounds like a right "Sxxxx Axxx" !!

I also meant to add that the fact that Kelly's husband can drive & do woodwork at a day centre bears ro relationship as to whether or not he can be left to monitor his own medication or has the will & motivation to perform other tasks especially if he's having a bad day down the black hole of depression.
I never ceased to be amazed at the number of HP's who regard depression & anxiety as a "pull yourself together & get on with it" condition.

I feel very over whelmed by the information available and I wondered if I should pick up on every point on the claim form that the assessor has questioned , as so much of the written claim pack has been questioned, but will this give us the best possible chance of not having to go to appeal.
Sorry for the questions but unsure where to go for help we used disability solutions to complete the original form.
