PIP award backdated & tax credits was created by Bamboozal
Hi PIP awarded after 3 mths with no medical, so many many thanks for all your help, its such a relief. Thought it would be pretty straight forward now but nooooo......

Not sure if my query can be answered by this website but am hoping other members may be able to help if they have had the same experience?

I claimed tax credits as now qualify for the disability element but they will not backdate the tax credit award to the date of PIP award even tho I submitted the request in writing as stated on the HMRC website on app of tax credit as per the instructions on the said website. Has anyone else had this problem? I have had no award notice but amounts paid in bank & no correspondance on anything or any discisions on tax credits or replies to my queries...on searching online this seems to be the morn re tax creds!!
Have requested a mand recon over the phone but when I rang the week after they said there was no chance, only backdate a month. Cits advise confirm it should be backdated to start of PIP award but no one at HMRC has any idea. Have emailed my MP but received no reply or acknowledgment, thinking of requesting a mand recon in writing and attaching HMRC website info.

Anyones similar experiences would be welcome,
Many thanks to all you lovely people

Unfortunately we are unfamiliar with the legislation for Tax Credits, so cannot offer advice on the back dating rules. If another member is able to help, then please post.

  			 				Hi Bam,

I'm glad that the PIP decision went in your favour, I hope you have a similar outcome regarding HMRC.
