hello there my mother in law is on dla lower rate £21 a week . she is 84 she has short term memory loss arthritis and walks bad . can you advice us can we claim attendance allowance for her or is it best to go for higher dla . me my my husband both work so some one says we carnt get carers allowance . we shop for her collect her pension do all diy gardening etc

It should be possible for current DLA award to be re-assessed to see if she qualifies for a higher rate of care, as she is other the age of 65 she cannot be assessed for a mobility award (this would be the same on AA).
