I was today advised that I must now apply for PIP as my DLA is up for renewal later this year. I can choose to "start" my new claim by 21 February in which case I will keep my existing payment until I have been reassessed or I can "choose" to apply at a later date and my existing benefit will be stopped until I have been reassessed. is this a new one? I am currently being treated for tension and stress and have a brain tumour and other associated problems but hey lets just keep piling the pressure on. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.
DLA claimants who's award is about to end within 20 weeks are being invited to claim PIP.
There is no automatic transfer to PIP, DLA claimants will need to make a new claim for the new benefit, the letter is saying that you need to start the PIP claim process by 21 February.
If you do not so by this date then your DLA payments will be suspended and you will be given a further four weeks to start a claim, if you do then you DLA payments will be reinstated with any missed payments made up.
If you do not start a PIP claim within these timescales then your DLA claim will be closed, this is not an appealable Decision.
Our PIP Claim guide explains the process in more detail, I would suggest you have a look at it and if you have any questions, reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
