Am currently also on ESA support group
I applied for PIP 27th October 2014, that is when I made the phone call. The form arrived around 2 weeks later. I sent it back within the week.
I was given a medical assessment within 2 weeks of sending off the form
and received my decision (standard rate care) on Christmas eve.
payment was made 29th December backdated.

So 8 working weeks.

The secret, from the initial phone call, everyone I had contact with, Capita or DWP, knew my normal line of work is as CAB session supervisor/trainer and have done some consultancy work for them and provided courses freelance. guess it flags up on the computer nowadays

Personally it eases my anxiety to be dealt with so quickly

Professionally and ethically I wonder how they can do a claim this fast through normal channels when new claims are around 20-21 weeks. Seems to me that the mechanisms are there and can work fast when they want them to.

Hi,

If your forum name is also your real name, you may wish to change it to maintain some anonymity.

This can be done quite easily by following the instructions on this FAQ :

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Thanks for the feedback, and congratulations on The PIP Award !! :)

Hi and thanks for the info .I made a call to pip today as was wondering if I had time to give the extra information I have just received to my claim. The pleasant man on the phone asked for my details and checked to see where mine was.Oh he said it was received from Capita on the 15th Jan so may have already been decided then says oh sorry a lot of desicions are made the day after we receive them back from Atos or Capita but yours is with the slow case officer who is only just getting through the end of December.I asked why couldn't some cases be transferred to the other case officers or desicion makers to make it fair? My answer after him checking with supervisor was that they don't like to use the expression desicion maker now and can't expediate cases from one to another as this would put in question the integrity and quality of said case officer.Well I was somewhat flabbergasted and with I might receive a desicion in 8 to 10 weeks from now.Obviously I am and those others in same queue as me not as special or scary as you.Really pleased you got a positive though. :) Effie

Steffi

You are entitled to submit additional information until a Decision is made on your claim, so if you think this information is important to your claim, send it to the DWP as quickly as possible.

bit off topic but direct to your post.
I have changed to a user name thanks. But most forums display the username automatically rather than the account holders real name. Perhaps I missed something in the sign up but it would be nice if this was made clear.

Feedback not criticism.

with the nice red wording below well in mind, I totally agree with Gordon.

benefits are often perceived as a passive thing I have always tried to instill in advisors and clients alike that, if you are legally entitled, then it is right and proper to be very active, illness allowing, to obtain that legal entitlement.
It is both OK and, IMHO, good for the mind to be active and positive about benefits.
They are a means to deal with a new phase in your life and move on, not an end to life or "normality".
