Hi i have been receiving company sick pay and ssp but it has now ran out and i am not returning to work. my employer is looking at my request for ill health retirement.I dont know what i should do now concerning esa as my emoloyer hasnt sent me anything to say my sick pay has ended but i only received a small amount from them on my last pay day so im sure it has ended. Also when i apply for esa do i have to provide sick lines. if so how long should i ask my gp to put on the line. As my gp knows i cant return to my job. Also concerning working tx credits when do i inform them as even though ive no sick pay left im still employed due to my unions request for my pension. But i dont think i will be successful with this.
You can apply for ESA from the day after your SSP ended, you will need your employer to provide you with an SSP1 certificate, if this has already passes then you can backdate the claim by up to three months.
You will need a Fit Note in order to make a claim for ESA, the first two cannot be for more than three months duration, after that it is at the discretion of your GP.
We don't deal with Tax Credits on the forum, but I would assume that you need to inform them immediately.
