PIP and home medicals/assessments was created by mommaduck
I am not due to be assessed for PIP until after OCT 15. I am currently in receipt of DLA. Lifetime award for high rate both Mobility and Care.
Reading through some of the recent posts, it appears that Capita do make appointments for home assessments rather than at a centre.
My questions are this:
1) if one is offered a home assessment, can one refuse and insist upon being assessed at a centre?
2) Is there any evidence to suggest that one is more likely to receive a positive outcome to their claim if being assessed by Capita rather than Atos?
My personal reason for preferring a centre is that I feel that my life is intruded upon and invaded enough - although I would admit it would be far easier if someone attended my home, but having said that, unless I specifically invite someone into my home, then I consider it an invasion of privacy and would not feel at all comfortable - particularly if it was a male.
Thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

1. If you would feel more comfortable with an assessment at their offices then you can certainly request that this is done, however, before doing so you should consider the implications of your doing so, as you will be indicating a level of ability that you may not actually have.
2. As far as I am aware there are no statistics in the public domain that cover the likelihood of success with one Assessment Provider versus the other.
If it would help you are entitled to have someone with you at the assessment, home
or at the AP's offices.
