Sons DLA TO PIP was created by jacquiek
Hi, we just had a visit today actually for once from a nice lady from DWP about our sons DLA. Because hes turning 16 soon. My Husband has been awarded indefinite appointee for him as long as he gets the benefit.
Question 1 is filling out the PIP roughly the same kinda form and questions?
Question 2 Is my husband getting indefinite going to help us with his next claim, as the last one we had to fight to get for over 8 months, after them stopping it out of the blue.

Hi j,

Welcome to Benefits and Work :)

In response to your questions :

1. No, the applications forms and qualifying criteria for PIP are totally different to that of DLA.

One example of this is that PIP is points based, DLA was not.

Have a read through the information on the following links which should help with your understanding of PIP :

PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link on page)

PIP Self Test

PIP Topic Thread in Spotlight Area

2. If by this question you mean will having an "indefinite" award of DLA be advantageous when the time comes to claim PIP, the answer is "No"

All current DLA recipients, no matter how long their current DLA awards are for, will have to go through the same process.

The only difference with DLA Indefinite awards, is that they will not be invited to claim PIP until "sometime after October 2015", whereas some DLA recipients with fixed term awards have already been and will continue to be invited to claim PIP when their fixed term DLA award is due to expire.

If you have any further queries, please reply to this topic.

I have downloaded the form and the help on how to fill it in for him . I also switch from DLA to PIP in October so it should help me re-arrange my answers and give a more detailed picture of my issues too.
Thank you all so much for all the work you do to help people get the right decisions your service is well worth the fee x

Hi j,

Just for clarity, there is no online version of The PIP 2 Questionnaire, although there are "Samples" available.

It is fine to use a Sample to familiarise yourself with the PIP Form, you could even start laying your answers down on separate A4 sheets which you could then refer to and attach to The PIP 2 Form when you receive one through the post.

Each PIP Form has a Barcode which directly ties it to the claimant, so this is the form that must be used with your PIP application, when the time comes.
