Re Suspension of WCA by Atos except for New Claims

Last January there was announcement which you also included in a newsletter about all repeat assessments (apart from New Claims and those already stuck in the system) being suspended for two years from January 2014 while a replacement was found for Atos.

I was one of those who thought I had two years reprieve from them as I didn't fall into either category but I am getting worried now as I've heard about a couple of people who also seemed to fall into this category and have received ESA50s to complete ie not new claimants or those still in the system. Do you have any more info on this or heard of others in this situation?

Many thanks

There has been a more recent statement confirming the deferment in a Commons Select Committee report, however, we know for a fact that re-assessments are still being done, so whilst there is still a general deferment of re-assessments individual DWP regions will undoubtedly be implementing the policy to fit their requirements; those with long queues and/or poor ATOS assessment services will likely not be looking again at claims, those with short queues and good ATOS services, probably are.

Each region is reviewing the situation on a month by month basis.

I think it likely that WRAG claims will be prioritised over SG ones.

All we can say to members is to be prepared should an ESA50 come through the door.

Thanks. Can I find out the situation in my own area?

Hi A,

I am afraid that the only way that you may be able to find out your re-referral date for a WCA reassessment would be to contact The DWP :

ESA PHONE NUMBER DWP : 0345 608 8545 Press Option 3 for ESA.

Thanks Bro. I'd rather not draw attention to myself. I had hoped I'd have another year's grace but now that may not happen :(

But I suppose it's as well to be prepared.
