It really depends on the reasons that the panel had for asking for this additional information, if they have asked for your medical records then they are trying to get a broader view of your limitations than was presented in any of the current documentation, they may also be looking for corroborative evidence for your limitations or to confirm that those limitations are consistent with your conditions.
If they have asked for new evidence to be made available, in particular a new assessment then it typically means that they have doubts over the credibility of the existing one, either in terms of the content overall, or that a significant area has been missed.
The former should only take a few weeks to satisfy and a new hearing should be arranged quite quickly, in the case of the latter, it may take some time to arrange for an assessment, in the case of ESA this could easily be a year if it is not prioritised.
