Severe Disability Premium was created by UncleMort
I was recently awarded PIP after a long process, much to my relief. I received a letter from the DWP earlier in the week stating because I have been awarded enhanced rate of Daily Living Component I may be entitled to Severe Disability Premium.
I have never heard of this, if I apply do I have to go through a long medical and stressful process all over again. I suffer with mental health issues and although very happy and relieved to have been awarded PIP, I am totally burnt out from it all.

To receive the Severe Disability Premium you need to meet two requirements.
First you need to be receiving an Income Related benefit in whole or in part, a previous post of yours suggests that you are receiving ESA while in the Support Group. You need to check whether this ESA(IR) or if you are receiving Contribution Based ESA, whether you are also receiving an ESA(IR) top-up.
If you are not then you can ask the DWP to financially assess you for ESA(IR), they will look at your household income, assets and savings, and any hours that a partner works, the following explain the requirements in more detail.
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
The assessment requires you to complete an ESA3 form with your financial information, there is no medical assessment and your existing ESA will remain unchanged.
If you are eligible for ESA(IR), then as a result you should be paid the Enhanced Disability Premium for being in the Support Group.
To be eligible for SDP, you need to be in receipt of PIP Daily Living, AA or DLA Care athe the medium or higher rate, you need to be living alone or considered to be living alone (I can explain this in more detail if needed) and no one must be receiving Carers Allowance for you.
To claim SDP you need to complete an IS10 form which you can get from the DWP, this captures information about your living arrangements.
