Pip reconsideration time. was created by Suz
I'm waiting on a mandatory reconsideration. I have a degenerative spinal condition and have had two major spinal operations in the last 2 years, and just found out I urgently need a third. My operation is going to be in January. I submitted my pip application in June as my DLA award was up for renewal in September. I was devastated when my pip award came back and I had only been awarded low mobility although I can not walk any distance. I have lost my care component as I was on high care and have been for 3 years. I am very upset and as I relied on others i an now housebound as I'm not in a position to pay for extra help. I very limited mobility, and need a lot of help and care. I submitted my reconsideration letter 7 weeks ago with evidence from both my gp and consultant. At the time of submitting my letter I was waiting on my MRI and CT results, I have recently had the devastating news that I need an urgent operation! My pre op is next week and my op early January. I have telephoned the DWP to advise them of this but have still not heard anything. Do you know how long reconsiderations are taking.

Hi S,

Sorry to hear of the deterioration in your condition !!! :(

It may be advisable to reiterate information that you provided regarding your forthcoming operation over the phone in the form of a brief letter.

Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS

I am afraid that MR are taking longer than originally promised.

It will vary regionally, and will also be dependent on how much fresh supporting evidence that you have provided, and whether The DWP have contacted your G.P./Treating HCP for Further Medical Evidence. (FME)

We have certainly heard from members who have been awaiting the outcome of an MR for in excess of 12 Weeks.

If the MR drags on too long, you could involve your M.P., who may be able to expidite matters :

Contacting your MP

Best of luck with the operation, I really do hope that things go well !!! :)

Please do keep us updated.
