ESA and Support for mortgage interest was created by Kevin Clark
I qualified for mortgage assistance but have now had the money deducted from my esa. The reason is that i have lodgers and my income is too high I am in the support group but the benefits are wiped out becuse of the deduction. I have a large mortgage and after money paid directly to my building society there is a shortfall of £1000 which is made from rental income. I am in efffect nearly £500 out of pocket with only a tiny pension and lower DLA allowance. I have only £260 to live on for a month, this barely covers fuel bills. The support for mortgage interest is supposed to avoid evictions but in my case it is going to accelerate my problem and the only money i can get would be not paying sll of my mortgage which is already subject to a court order.
Surely this cannot be right, I am looking at selling and downsizing but that all takes time and I still am broke and fast running out of ways to get money, loans from friends and family etc

I am going to recommend that you get immediate face to face advice from a trained advisor, do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.

You mention "rental income" in your post, if you are receiving this and at the level that you mention then it raises serious concerns over whether you should be receiving ESA(IR) and assistance with your mortgage in the first place.
