shandy wrote: Hi, I am looking for some help and advice about my mother in law, she is 91 years old and has been out of hospital for 3 weeks after having Cellulitus and ulcerated leg. Her son lives with her and he is in full time employment, she gets a state pension and also a small pension from her late husbands work. She cannot move around the house now as her mobility has been affected, also her cleanliness. We have been trying to get her some carers to come in during the day and the person at social services asked if she was on DLA and she isn't. We are just wondering before the social worker comes for a meeting, whether she would be entitled to DLA to help with her care.
very worried
thanks

Hi s,
As your M in L is over 65, she could not claim DLA or PIP.
She could however make a claim for Attendance Allowance. (AA)
There is a guide for claiming AA which is the top link on this page :
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla/#AA
The guide includes a quick "5 Minute AA Test".
